The Ministry of Energy manages Alberta’s energy resources to ensure they are developed responsibly and in a way that benefits and brings value to Albertans as the resource owners. Alberta’s energy resources include the fourth-largest proven oil reserves in the world, abundant natural gas and coal reserves, geothermal heat, pore space, and metallic and industrial minerals. Recent world events have revealed the vulnerabilities in our global energy systems and highlighted the need for safe, secure, reliable, and affordable energy supply chains. As one of the world’s largest and most responsible energy producers, the Market Access branch supports advocacy across Canada - and globally - to reinforce the important role the province has to play in providing environmentally responsible, reliable and affordable energy products to Canadians and the world.

**Role Responsibilities**:
The Market Access Branch is currently seeking an agile and driven individual to join their team as Director, Regulatory Affairs to drive key initiatives on advancing advocacy and development of regulatory strategy and policies around market access for Alberta's oil and gas.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Market Access Branch, this position is accountable for regulatory affairs related to downstream pipeline and market access for Alberta's oil and gas, advocating for Alberta's position at Canadian Energy Regulator hearings, proceedings, and on shipper committees.

This position will support the development of regulatory strategy and strategic policy, preparation of reports, presentations, and briefing notes, and guide analysis and research with a focus to achieve Government of Alberta's energy goals. It is a key player in supporting Alberta's regulatory positions during hearing processes, negotiations, and advocacy within industry task forces.

The Director is accountable for the following key deliverables for the Ministry:

- Lead in the preparation and development of Energy's policy positions to ensure the province receives its fair share of resource royalty revenues and meets objectives contained within the Energy Business Plan and priorities of the Government of Alberta
- Ensure Energy meets filing requirements, review applicants and intervener's evidence, prepare information requests, review information responses, prepare cross-examination and final arguments, and review and summarize regulatory decisions,
- Monitor major industry catalysts, social license issues, and major impediments to achieving Alberta's goals, as well as current issues including balancing oil supply growth with constrained transportation capacity, pipeline safety, environmental concerns, First Nations, and overall trends in government policy, and provide constructive recommendations to the Executive Team.
