**Position Title**: Settlement Worker - Mental Health Focus (Full-Time)

- **Reports to**: Settlement Lead / Settlement & Family Programs Manager
**Summary**
The Settlement Worker provides direct client services and supports newcomers in adapting to life in Canada. This position has a special focus on supporting clients to build through an integrated services approach; the Settlement Worker conducts one-on-one detailed needs assessment and referrals, one-on-one information and orientation, group information and orientation, service bridging, community connections, client outreach, resource development, and ensures service accessibility for all eligible clients. This position will deliver mental health workshops and provide one-to-one support using a trauma-informed approach to help distressed clients and increase positive mental health outcomes for newcomers. This position provides support virtually and in person.
**Responsibilities**
- Conducts needs and assets assessments, develops service/settlement plans, and provides service bridging and referrals for eligible clients
- Identifies clients requiring mental health support and receives internal referrals
- Provides one-to-one sessions and group workshops to increase understanding of mental health and to build strength and resiliency
- Supports the Impact North Shore team members experiencing vicarious trauma and helps build staff resilience and strength
- Conducts group information sessions and workshops using a variety of service delivery methods as suitable to meet deliverables
- Assesses and responds to clients in crises / presenting with visible trauma (via phone, online or in person) and provides immediate support and intervention, notifying others of the Leads and Managers when a more in-depth service intervention is required.
- Keeps informed of current resources, trends, needs, changes, and service gaps in the general community and in specific client communities
- Develop partnerships with service providers to effectively link clients with appropriate community services (e.g. school districts, recreation centres, libraries etc.).
- Keeps informed of programs and services at Impact North Shore and North Shore community resources
- Conducts outcomes measurement, program/service promotions, reporting, client feedback collection and administrative tasks required
- Attends and takes an active role in departmental, all-staff, and community meetings
- Ensures all required service data is correctly inputted into Impact North Shore and government databases; abides by privacy, confidentiality, and secure data storage guidelines; and swiftly responds to queries regarding service data quality
- Becomes familiar with Impact North Shore policies and procedures, programming objectives, client service philosophy, and understand clearly the role this position plays in achieving contractual goals and outcomes
- Provides first language services as required to enhance the client experience, including providing document translation support as required
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Settlement Leads/Settlement and Family Programs Manager

**Qualifications**
- 3 years’ experience in a counseling and/or social work role, preferably with immigrants and an understanding of the immigrant and refugee experience and settlement-integration stages/process
- Bachelor's degree in Psychology or related field.
- Knowledge of Canadian legal, political, cultural, employment, educational, and economic systems
- Experienced in establishing professional boundaries with clients
- Ability to work in a team
