Applefest Lodge offers both independent and assisted living and is looking for new members to join our care team. Nestled in picturesque Northumberland County in the town of Brighton and ensconced adjacent to a beautiful apple orchard, with only 67 suites our, care team can focus on creating an intimate and comfortable setting, providing compassionate care with exceptional services, and delivering individual attention.
We are currently looking to add a Director of Wellness for a 1 year Contract.
Director of Wellness Position Summary Qualification
Essential Duties
Current registration and in good standing with the College of Nurses Ontario
- Current CPR & First Aid Certificate
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
- 3-5 years of leadership experience in the senior housing industry
- Competency in the Retirement Homes Act and other applicable legislation
- Familiarity with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act Core Competencies

Duties
1. Recruitment and on-going performance management of all Wellness Staff
2. Participates in inter-professional assessments in identifying Residents needs and develops an individualized plan of care within 14 days of admission.
3. Attends Resident meetings as requested to discuss concerns/complaints, suggestions.
4. Assigns, delegates, and evaluates the activities of the wellness department.
5. Organizes and participates in the Resident Care conferences on admission, at 6-month intervals or if there is a change in the resident’s condition.
6. Ensure the maintenance of accurate health records.
7. Identify process improvements requirements and implement quality improvement as necessary.
8. Liaise with partners in hospitals, patient flow coordinators and other community referral sources.
9. Serve as the IPAC Coordinator for the community.
10. Completes all Wellness staff scheduling and adjustments as required.
11. Conduct home visits or on-site health assessments pre-admission to determine appropriateness for the community. 12. Participate in on-going resident review to assess the need for additional services and make recommendations.
13. On-going evaluation of Risk and remediation required to reduce the risk of injury to self, co-workers and residents. 14. Participates in fire safety demonstrations and fire drills.
