The Compliance Specialist provides H.S. Classification, Adjustment (Refund or Amend) and Compliance information to clients and staff and assists in maintaining client databases. This role may also assist with quality control (i.e. auditing data entry) of completed entries.

Key Responsibilities
- Complete, submit and conclude all adjusting entries including B2’s, DAS and GST 189E. In completing these tasks research of database, recovery of flies, billing, client inquiry etc. may be required
- HS Classification - research classification for new products and / or confirmation of tariff item used for each assigned account
- Correcting existing database
- Attend meetings and perform other functions as necessary
- Other related duties as assigned, including assisting with Quality Control of entries, attending client meetings, general office support, etc.

Education and Experience
- Secondary School or related experience
- Enrolment in or completion of Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) course preferred

Competencies, Working Skills & Attributes
- Solid knowledge of tariff, legal notes, free trade agreements, regulations, valuation, etc.
- Excellent attention to detail; able to work independently as well as part of a team, as needed
- Strong interpersonal skills; able to tailor communications, both verbal and written
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret government regulations
- Tactful and dependable
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Ability to write reports, prepare correspondence

Working Conditions, Mental Effort & Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time while entering data
- Ability to focus on computer screen and / or written materials for extended periods of time
- Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals
- Must work under deadlines and related stresses in a timely and efficient manner
- Must be able to professionally handle various personnel and other situations as they arise
- Concentration is required at all times to perform the job efficiently and accurately, while answering questions or phone calls for inquiries regarding HS classification, valuation or compliance
- Lifting boxes on occasion - up to 20-25lbs
- Travel is generally not required, but may need to attend meetings at client offices from time to time
