Boundary Bay Veterinary Specialty Hospital (BBVSH) is growing and seeking more Veterinary Assistants (VA) to join the team for the **evening and overnight shifts**.
- Graduate from a Veterinary Assistant, Office assistant or Veterinary Technician Assistant program or have gained experience working in a veterinary clinic or hospital
- Have a willingness to learn more regarding veterinary care and services
- Create a warm, positive, low stress environment for our patients and clients
- Have a compassionate and nurturing attitude
- Have the ability to remain calm in stressful situations
- Have the ability to adapt to changing situations
- Efficient in carrying out assignments independently
- Take initiative to complete tasks
- Work well under pressure

**VA Responsibilities include but are not limited to**:

- Assist the veterinary team with various tasks and treatments
- Restraining of patients
- Nursing care of hospitalized patients (cleaning, walking, feeding and some medication)
- General housekeeping duties
- Set up and take down of procedures or treatments
- Running blood work and other various lab requests
- History taking, client communication, patient updates
- Opportunity to advance to specialty VA positions

BBVSH has board-certified specialists in surgery, oncology, neurology, critical care, internal medicine, radiology, cardiology, and dentistry. We also offer a full rehabilitation department complete with an underwater treadmill. Each department works collaboratively with other services within BBVSH, as well as accepting referrals and emergencies from other specialty and general practices.
