**Position Summary**

Under the direction of the Kitchen Supervisor with directional support from Second Cooks, the Kitchen Assistant is responsible for basic food preparation techniques used to produce high quality, large volume meals. In addition, the Kitchen Assistant is responsible for washing and storing of all kitchen and dining room dishes, and maintaining clean and sanitary work areas, equipment and tools in a professional manner.

The Dining Room Server, under supervision of the Kitchen Supervisor and Assisted Living Manager, is responsible for ensuring that residents are provided with a welcoming dining room experience. This role, following health and safety guidelines, serves two meals per day, sets up, cleans, and sanitizing the dining room. In addition, both roles ensure compliance with all Food Safe guidelines in the handling and storage of all food supplies. This is a fulltime, permanent position. This position is compensated at $23.11 per hour.
- Shifts for Kitchen Assistant are: Friday to Saturday, 10:30 am - 6:30 pm_
- Shifts for Dining Room Server are: Sunday to Monday, 10:30 am - 6:30 pm_

**Qualifications**
- 1-2 years of experience working in a high-volume dining room
- Experience working in a kitchen preferred
- Occupational Level 1 first aid certificate
- Food Safe 1
- WHMIS
- Criminal Record Check

**Required Knowledge and Skills**
- Experience in and with Indigenous communities would be an asset
- Strong time management, multi-tasking, and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to display tact, respect, and diplomacy
- Ability to take direction and follow procedures
- Knowledge to respond effectively and calmly in crisis situations
- Capable of being socially sensitive to Indigenous issues and concerns
- Good conflict resolution skills and the ability to demonstrate patience and tolerance
- Knowledge of an Assisted Living environment would be an asset
- Ability to work independently, yet contribute and co-operate in a team environment
- Be vaccinated against Covid-19 before their start date
