Patient Financial Counsellor

Markham Fertility Centre (MFC) is a leader in the field of ART and Reproductive Genetics and is looking for a passionate **Patient Financial Counsellor** to join our team and positively contribute to our mission of devotion to excellence in the reproductive journey. The **Patient Financial Counsellor** will contribute to the MFC's reputation as a Centre of Excellence for reproductive medicine. Reporting to the Business Operations Manager, the **Patient Financial Counsellor** plays a key role in supporting patients in understanding the financial aspects of their care at Markham Fertility Centre. The **Patient Financial Counsellor** will review fees, answer patient questions, provide guidance and invoice patients for services. The **Patient Financial Counsellor** also provides financial and bookkeeping back-up support to the Financial Coordinator, as needed. As the **Patient Financial Counsellor,** you have a visible role, modelling the values and attributes of staff working at MFC that focuses on quality and individualized care. You are a great relationship builder, highly organized, able to succeed in a fast-paced environment, and are eager to engage with new challenges every day. You have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; you work well independently and with others, have excellent problem-solving skills and effective management skills. You have excellent written and verbal communications skills and a strong knowledge of fertility services offered at MFC.

MFC is one of only a few fertility clinics in Canada to offer Genetic Counselling onsite as part of its standard of care. This allows MFC to offer the full spectrum of genetic services to complement other assisted reproductive technologies including expanded carrier screening, preimplantation genetic testing (PGT), third-party reproductive genetics, and prenatal genetic counselling. **Responsibilities**
- Acts as the primary resource for all patient inquires regarding service and treatment fees ensuring patients have a good understanding of the financial aspects of the unfunded aspects of treatment.
- Provides additional financial and bookkeeping support to the clinics
- Provides back-up support to the dispensary as required.
- Performs work in accordance with the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act

**Education and Experience**

Degree or diploma in business or general accounting or bookkeeping with at least 2 years of experience providing customer support of a billing or financial nature.

- Strong quantitative and financial acumen
- Ability to prioritize, organize workload and plan independently.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Proficient in QuickBooks (preferred)
- Proficient in Microsoft office (word, outlook, PowerPoint)
- Familiar with electronic management records (an asset)
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledgeable about providing a safe and inclusive environment to gender and sexually diverse people (2SLGBTQIA+)
- Commitment to patient centered care.
- Knowledge of fertility treatments and services (an asset)
