Montréal, Canada Giant Steps Full time

Giant Steps School services approximately 90 students, aged 4 to 21 years old, with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). We have preschool aged students (4 and 5 years old), and an elementary and high school educational program. Students follow a program according to their needs. Our approach is highly specialized, intensive, and interdisciplinary. We offer instruction in both French and English. Founded in 1980, Giant Steps School is a private school in the public interest and subsidized by the Ministry of Education.

**Responsibilities**
- Adhere to all _Non-Violent Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI)_procedures and protocols;
- Follow directives given by the behavioural coordinator and the behaviour team;
- Intervene in a crisis situation, according to the intervention protocol;
- Fill out contention/accident report;
- Assist in the completion of Active Prevention Plans;
- Support during a moment of crisis, disorganization or need for special assistance;
- Support students during difficult transitions as required;
- Actively participate in the arrival of students’ arrival and departure to and from school;
- Provide a preventive presence in the classroom as needed;
- Intervenes physically when the situation requires it;
- Observes the behaviours of the student and report his observations;
- May provide basic care to students, including toileting, hygiene and feeding;
- Completes frequent rounds of the school to ensure safety, security and the well-being of the students;
- Any other related tasks.

**Requirements**:

- High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Certificate;
- Excellent physical ability;
- Minimum of 1 year experience with autistic children;
- Excellent in stress and emotion management;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Bilingualism (English and French);
- Basic computer skills;
- CPI trained (as asset);
**Salary Scale**: Conseil du trésor and the level of experience
