Activity Leader (children/community programming)

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Assist in setting up, and cleanup of various weekly programs and community events.
- Demonstrated skills in program planning, facilitation and evaluation.
- Work together with the Youth Programmer to plan, prepare and implement daily recreation, creative, and social activities for children aged 5 - 12yrs
- Ensure health and safety of the children and youth
- Collect and analyze data to assess community needs and preferences.
- Support recruiting efforts for volunteers and program participants.
- Strong administrative abilities to handle various tasks efficiently.
- Perform work-related duties including answering phone calls, greeting community members and lifting/moving program equipment.

Skills and Qualifications:

- Education in social services, recreation, kinesiology or related field an asset
- Relevant experience volunteering or working with school aged children
- Ability to work as part of a team
- First Aid and Food Safe certified are assets
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Enjoys working with people in a diverse and inclusive setting
- Broad knowledge of resources and services for people living in the Marpole community
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Clear criminal record check upon hire required.

Employment Terms:
This is a part-time (20hrs/week) one-year contract position with a possible extension of position dependent on funding. This position will be every Tuesday and Thursday and Friday from 12:30pm - 5:30pm and Wednesdays 9:30am - 2:30pm with some possible evenings and weekends as needed.

Compensation: $22.90/hour + benefits package

Pay: $22.90 per hour

Expected hours: 20 per week
