Our programs serve children from Infants to Kindergarten, and our commitment to the Montessori method is paired with strict adherence to provincial child care regulations. We are currently seeking an experienced and enthusiastic **Child Care Supervisor** to help lead our dynamic team and maintain excellence in early childhood programming.
**Position Overview**
**Core Responsibilities**
**1. Leadership and Staff Supervision**
- Provide daily leadership, mentoring, and direction to a team of early childhood educators, assistants, and support staff.
- Facilitate regular team meetings to promote professional collaboration, open communication, and reflective practice.
- Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and develop individualized professional development plans for staff.
- Assist in recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and evaluating new educators.
- Promote a culture of respect, empathy, professionalism, and inclusivity.
**2. Montessori Curriculum Oversight**
- Ensure the consistent implementation of authentic Montessori programming in all classrooms.
- Support educators in preparing the environment and maintaining Montessori materials and learning areas.
- Guide curriculum planning in alignment with Montessori principles and developmental milestones.
- Monitor daily activities to ensure balance between child-led exploration and teacher-facilitated learning.
- Encourage the integration of outdoor learning, nature-based experiences, and real-life practical activities.
**3. Compliance and Licensing**
- Ensure full compliance with all relevant legislation (e.g., Child Care and Early Years Act - CCEYA, or provincial equivalent).
- Maintain accurate documentation, including staff records, child files, incident reports, and daily attendance logs.
- Conduct routine health and safety inspections to ensure cleanliness, organization, and adherence to COVID-19 and public health protocols.
- Lead the center through licensing inspections, audits, and quality assurance visits.
- Keep up to date with changes in policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
**4. Family Engagement & Communication**
- Serve as the main point of contact for families regarding program details, child development, and center policies.
- Foster positive relationships through daily interactions, formal meetings, and regular progress updates.
- Address concerns, inquiries, and conflicts in a professional, timely, and confidential manner.
- Plan and facilitate family engagement events such as parent nights, workshops, and holiday celebrations.
- Promote cultural awareness, diversity, and inclusion within the community.
**5. Administrative and Operational Support**
- Assist with enrollment management, waitlist tracking, and orientation for new families.
- Prepare staffing schedules, approve time off requests, and manage daily ratios.
- Track and manage budgets, classroom supply inventories, and equipment maintenance.
- Utilize child care management systems and software for record-keeping, reporting, and communication.
- Collaborate with the Director/Owner on strategic planning, marketing, and center development.

**Required Qualifications**
- **Montessori Certification** (AMI, MACTE, or equivalent recognized program) or an **Early Childhood Education (ECE) Diploma or Degree.**Registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators (Proof in Good Standing)
- **Minimum 2 years of experience** in a licensed child care setting, with at least 1 year in a leadership/supervisory capacity

- **Valid Standard First Aid & CPR Level C Certification**:
- Strong knowledge of Montessori philosophy, child development theories, and early learning frameworks
- Working knowledge of provincial child care legislation, licensing requirements, and pedagogical best practices
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- High level of professionalism, initiative, and emotional intelligence
- Proficiency in written and verbal communication, Microsoft Office, and childcare software systems (Lillio, etc. preferred)
