**Position Summary**

Reporting to the Director of Commercial Operations, the Base Manager - YQT is responsible for providing direction and supervision to the operational functions of the Thunder Bay and Sioux Lookout bases, ensuring that customer satisfaction and on-time performance goals are not only met, but exceeded.

**Responsibilities**:

- Oversee operations at the Thunder Bay and Sioux Lookout Bases, including:

- Building/facility maintenance
- Vehicle maintenance
- Occupational health and safety requirements
- Daily oversight of Base Operations
- Use payroll system to schedule employee shifts and approve payroll
- Coordinate service contracts, authorize expenses and approve payment for charges related to the requirements of the Thunder Bay and Sioux Lookout bases.
- Oversee daily operations at YQT and actively assist in creating irregular operations recovery plans.
- Onsite point of contact for Customer Service, Ramp and Cargo agents. Report up to Regional Managers any deficiencies in these areas.
- Coordinate building and ramp staff or contractors to complete minor construction or cosmetic work, e.g. dismantling, repairing and erecting walls, finish carpentry work, painting, etc.
- Coordinate mechanical and preventative maintenance work on equipment as per preventative maintenance manual, e.g. circulating pumps, air handling systems, refrigeration, etc.
- Identify and diagnose problems, coordinate and assign appropriate staff or contractors to replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
- Maintain and update preventative maintenance records for equipment and vehicles. Create new company-formatted forms for any new equipment and vehicles.
- Maintain and update Occupational Health and Safety records as required. Create new company-formatted forms as necessary.
- Work with Eastern Regional Manager, Ramp Lead hands and Customer Service Supervisors to ensure that aircraft ground operations are efficient and exceed on time performance and customer satisfaction.
- Work with the Thunder Bay and Sioux Lookout Maintenance Managers on specific facility needs to support their departments.
- Represent the Company, as necessary, for operational and/or promotional purposes within the Ontario/Eastern Region.
- Maintain and develop relationships with local Airport Authorities, other airport tenants, corporate partners and service providers
- Act as company representative when meeting with outside contractors as required, e.g. Fire Department, Hydro, etc.
- Act as point of contact for tenants renting company property
- Work with the Director of Commercial Operations, Eastern Region Maintenance department, Eastern Region Regional Manager and Northern Station Managers to providing planning and operational data, and suggestions to improve Company operations in the areas of staffing and on-time performance (OTP).
- Assist required third party services to provide scheduled, charter and training operations at the bases
- Assist with the preparation of quotes in response to requests for services to support third party customers at bases
- Oversee the effective and efficient scheduling and utilization of resources to support the scheduled, charter and training operations.
- Co-ordinate additional resources from other Company departments and/or third party providers to execute the operations
- Assist the Eastern Region managers and Charter Connexions in providing facility and staff resources to ensure that customer needs are met.
- Actively participate in the Company SMS program.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Minimum Education and Experience**:

- Minimum Grade 12 diploma
- Strong leadership with supervisory experience
- Strong Customer Service orientation
- Strong listening and communication skills
- Exhibit initiative, responsibility and flexibility, with demonstrated interpersonal skills allowing one to adapt to a fast-paced working environment
- Ability to problem-solve by offering suggestions on ways to perform tasks better
- Effective problem resolution skills
- Demonstrated time management skills
- Proactive, self-motivated and work well with others
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid RAIC and AVOP

**Working Conditions**:

- Work performed both indoors and outdoors; contact with staff and the public; must be able to adapt to all outdoor weather conditions
- Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals
- Ability to lift 50lbs
- Some travel required with overnight stays
- Safety equipment to be worn where required, e.g. hearing protection, safety vest, and ramp passes when on ramp
