With this, an exceptional job opportunity has emerged for the position of Domestic Abuse Housing & Programs Supervisor in West Kelowna.
This role not only presents an opportunity to contribute to our mission but also to play a pivotal role in our journey towards further empowering women and their children.
This is an exciting new role in a brand-new facility and will require the ability to adjust and evolve as we learn and grow as a team.
This is a full-time position working primarily Monday to Friday. However, given this role supports a 24/7 facility, the need to be flexible and support operations across 7 days is required. For operational requirements, occasional coverage of Frontline Support shifts may be required, and could include overnight shifts. An on-call rotation is also shared between the supervisory and management teams.
**Summary**
The Domestic Abuse Housing & Programs Supervisor adheres to the mission, vision, values, philosophy, and policies of KWS and is responsible for the day-to day operations of Transition House and the supervision of the Transition House Team in West Kelowna.
Reporting to the Manager, Programs and Services, this position will be responsible for the following:
- Facilitating and supporting a positive and collaborative relationship between the Transition House, Frontline Support Worker team and other programs/departments, leadership teams, and volunteers,
- Reviewing, updating, and adjusting policies and procedures in collaboration with the Manager, Programs and Services to ensure continuous improvement of KWS services and operations.
- Recruitment, onboarding, and training of the Transition House team.
- Supervision of the Transition House team, setting clear expectations, review progress, provide feedback, coaching and guidance.
- Scheduling the Transition House team to provide 24/7 support.
- Co-ordinating, and facilitating regular team meetings,
- Ensuring that documentation and program information are maintained in an accurate, timely, professional, and confidential manner, meeting KWS, funder, and sector standards,
- Ensuring required maintenance and reviews are completed for the transition house, including maintaining the related fire and security equipment and procedures,
- Working collaboratively with the Manager, Programs and Services to identify gaps, client risk assessment and support day-to-day expectations of support work to provide a safe, caring, and supportive environment for women and their children,
- Ensuring the physical needs of food, shelter, and safety are provided for women and children in crisis 24/7.
- Periodically reviewing and assess the suitability of referrals to internal and external programming,
- Responding to women’s requests and/or concerns, in consultation with the Manager and the Transition House team as deemed necessary,
- Working in conjunction with the Manager of Programs and Services to maintain approved budget,
- Attending community meetings and events.
**Qualifications**
- Minimum post-secondary degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field
- Minimum of four years of experience in similar organization/sector
- Minimum of two years leadership and supervisory experiences
- Valid BC Driver’s License, own vehicle, and driver’s abstract in good standing
- Successful completion of a criminal record check
- Standard First Aid Certificate and CPR Level B
- Excellent computer skills (Microsoft and client management systems)
**Skills & Abilities**
- Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills (oral & written),
- Must have excellent organizational skills,
- Previous experience in documentation, client support, program implementation, reporting, and evaluation is required,
- Strong knowledge and linkage to external services and systems that is available to women (and children) experiencing domestic abuse,
- An ability to engage with diverse populations in a respectful and culturally responsive manner,
- Able to think quickly and provide expert guidance in complex, critical, or irregular events,
- Must be capable and comfortable with crisis management,
