The Development Officer will identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major ($10,000+), leadership ($2,500+) and support development from vital (< $2,500) giving from individuals, family foundations and corporations, in support of the YMCA mission programs. As the Development Officer across Hamilton, Burlington and Brantford, this individual will work closely with the Senior Manager, Major and Leadership Giving to increase revenues through planned, corporations and individual giving. The Development Officer will also play a role in supporting campaign committee(s) and will work closely with the members to effectively identify, cultivate and steward donors. The Development Officer will champion face-to-face donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, and be accountable for a fundraising goal and key metrics that are agreed on with the Senior Manager, Major and Leadership Giving and are reviewed on a regular basis. The Development Officer understands and complies with all gift-related policies and procedures and ensures ethical compliance, as defined by the Association for Fundraising Professionals. This position requires a strong commitment to the YMCA mission and core values. The Development Officer is a trusted team player who supports the advancement of fund development across the Association. **Responsibilities** **Planned Giving (50%)**: **Manage a portfolio of Planned Giving Donors** - Manage relationships with individuals who have included the YMCA of HBB in their estate plans by building relationships through personal visits as well as planned, regular communication and engagement - Working with the Manager, and the Marketing and Communications Team, develop and deliver planned giving communications, publications, newsletters and impact reports - Develop recognition programs to show honour to and appreciation for the generosity and support from planned giving donors **Develop and Mature the portfolio of Planned Giving Donors** - Analyze donor information to determine and prioritize donors, and create stewardship plans for different segments of planned giving donors - Monitor and evaluate donor engagement/cultivation, recognition and stewardship strategies and advance new engagement opportunities - Educate and provide solutions through publications, information sessions and referrals to financial and philanthropic advisors to help guide planned giving donors allowing them to maximize charitable impact and legacy **Increase the number of Planned Giving Donors** - Increase the number of planned giving donors through outreach and education - Working with the Manager, and the Marketing and Communications Team, develop and implement planned giving marketing and acquisition strategies such as educational events, workshops, and newsletters - Respond to indications of interest in planned giving from donors in a timely manner, provide technical information and follow up to acquire formal confirmation of the gift **Donor Solicitation & Management (25%)** - Lead fundraising efforts in new individual donor identification, securing new and renewed gifts, and strengthening relationships with existing donors - Develop and maintain relationships with existing and prospective corporate partners - Maintain donor databases, including detailed records of all donor interactions **Grant and Proposal Writing, Management & Reporting (25%)** - Find and track relevant grant opportunities from foundations, corporations and other funding sources - Manage the grant proposal and reporting calendars, and track activities in the project management platform **Qualifications** - Strong relationship building skills, donor cultivation and solicitation experience - Self motivated with ability to work both independently and in a team environment. - Exp
