**GENERAL DESCRIPTION**:As part of our integrated Employment Services team, the Job Coach will work collaboratively with our Pre-Employment Coach, Employment Advisors and Job Developers to support participants by providing wrap-around individual case management, and job development, coaching and carving to identified youth and adults facing significant barriers to employment including individuals who are long term Ontario Works recipients or Ontario Disability Support Plan recipients, individuals who have disabilities, are long-term unemployed, have a history with the criminal justice system, and may be newcomers. The position establishes and maintains a strong relationship with the participant throughout the job finding and start-up phases of employment. The Job Coach is to develop successful relationships with employers to place participants by providing employment supports. This position reports to Senior Manager, Employment Services and is part of **CUPE 2289**.
**MAJOR DUTIES**:
- Accountable in the area of service outcomes and service delivery standards; employment, education and training, ensuring a high quality of customer service and acceptable positive results rate, with an expected success rate of 69% in competitive employment and 10% in training/education coupled with the participant suitability target of 31%
- Provide comprehensive case management support to assisted participants identified and referred by our Pre
- Employment Coach, our Employment Advisement Team and other employment programs within the agency. Manage a caseload of participants ensuring that written documentation and statistics for each file is up to date and managed inCaMS, Salesforce and other relevant databases.
- Assist participants attain the vocational goals in their Action Plan by identifying and assessing their needs, goals and barriers to employment.
- Research, procure and maintain materials related to a wide range of current employment, education and training opportunities, including self-employment and apprenticeships.
- Provide documentation of a clear rationale to support the participants accessing job placements, special support allowance and job retention services in accordance with TNG-St. Stephen’s decision model and ES guidelines
- Set up experiential or on the job training for individual participants with employers including job shadows, volunteer, job trials and work experience training opportunities
- Facilitate work opportunities and negotiate employment relationships for participants including placement agreements and contracts that include training objectives, commitments and financial incentives.
- Ensure that participating employers meet program eligibility criteria, and conduct at least one site visit per employer prior to placement to confirm suitability and a safe work environment
**REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS**:.
- Two years’ demonstrated and recent experience and strength in employment/career counselling, job coaching/mentoring, case management, job development and workshop facilitation with individuals facing complex barriers to employment
- Creativity and passion for working with individuals from various socio-economic and diverse backgrounds and assisting them in finding the help they need
- Ability to achieve program goals/targets including planning ahead for contingencies and identifying solutions to problems to ensure best results
- Persuasive verbal and written communication, and presentation skills
- Skilled in developing audience-geared employment related, life skills and career advancement curriculum coupled with strong facilitation skills
- Knowledge and understanding of labour market trends, coaching and mentoring approaches to support job seekers that are distant from the labour market
- Strong customer service background
**Salary**: $27.55 per hour
