**Position** : Full Time including weekends and on call.
**Position Summary**
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate **Director of Care (DOC)** to lead our care team in delivering high-quality, resident-centered care within our retirement home. The DOC is responsible for overseeing all aspects of nursing services, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a positive, caring environment for both residents and staff. **The Residences on Yonge is a Retirement Home that has a large focus on Assisted Living and Memory Care. Having experience with this type of care is essential**.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and supervision to the nursing and care team (RPNs, PSWs, students).
- Oversee resident move-ins, assessments, care planning, and care conferences.
- Ensure delivery of safe, therapeutic, and restorative care tailored to individual resident needs.
- Maintain compliance with all relevant legislation and best practices (e.g., medication administration, IPAC protocols, RHRA standards).
- Develop staff schedules, policies, and in-service education programs.
- Conduct audits (medication, hand hygiene, falls, etc.) and lead quality improvement initiatives.
- Promote open communication with families, residents, and staff to resolve concerns quickly and compassionately.
- Manage hiring, orientation, performance reviews, and ongoing professional development of care staff.
- Collaborate with the Nurse Practitioner and interdisciplinary team to support optimal resident outcomes.
- Participate in daily operations, meetings, and Manager-on-Duty rotation.
**Qualifications**
- Registered Nurse (RN) with a **current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)**.
- Strong clinical knowledge and experience in nursing and health care practices.
- **Minimum 3-5 years of leadership experience** in a retirement or long-term care setting.
- Solid understanding of applicable retirement home legislation and Ministry of Health regulations.
- Proficient in care documentation systems (e.g., PointClickCare), audit reporting, and team scheduling.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
**Working Conditions**
- On-call availability for emergencies.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Frequent interaction with residents, families, and healthcare providers.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $70,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
