In support of achieving excellence and business results through safe, reliable operations, our Chemistry & Environment Department at Bruce B, currently has a _Technical Officer _opportunity.

This is a term position which may be for a period of up to 60 months, offers a competitive compensation package and is located on-site in Tiverton, Ontario.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical evaluations, recommendations, and proposals in support of design, commissioning, operation and maintenance of equipment and processes having an impact on the chemistry and environment program- Implement actions in the resolution of chemistry control issues and report chemistry control performance- Assist in the development and implementation of assigned chemistry programs- Ensure sustained and improved program performance through ongoing assessment/surveillance, problem solving, development of objectives and targets and development/maintenance of long-term plans- Provide technical support for chemistry and environment programs such on-line instruments, bulk chemicals, resin management and outage chemistry- Prepare submissions/recommendations, including cost justifications to modify plant systems and processes- Prepare, revise and review data and documentation to optimize operation, or recognize changes to systems, consistent with the operating licenses, design intent, applicable regulations, policies, practices and instructions for the safe and environmentally responsible operation of station systems, processes and equipment- Prepare specifications and recommendations for the purchase of materials, services and equipment- Support for and optimization of CANDU station design and operation, particularly systems related to the chemistry program such as monitoring of chemical parameters, purification systems, chemical addition systems, bulk chemicals, and chemical process systems- Support the development and presentation of training programs

Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of chemistry, metallurgy, mathematics, physics, electricity, economics and environmental sciences to technically understand the operation of a nuclear generating station in order to effectively analyze and solve problems-
- Knowledge and experience with environmental and radiation protection regulations/requirements- Ability to interface effectively with operations/technical staff, regulators and other stakeholders via excellent verbal and written communications skills Education and Experience:
- This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired through the successful completion of an accredited four-year university education in an appropriate engineering or science field or having the equivalent level of education.- Experience in analytical chemistry, design of experiment and statistical data analysis are a strong asset- A period of over 6 years and up to and including 8 years is considered necessary to gain this experience.
