**Job Description - Maintenance Manager**

Wage: $23-$25/hr not including overtime plus applicable bonuses

The Maintenance Foreman/Woman will be responsible for the overall supervision and completion of maintenance related duties. In this role the Maintenance Foreman/Woman will be responsible for a crew of 2-3 workers and must delegate tasks and duties to these workers to meet maintenance timelines and standards as agreed upon in Westerns client contracts.

The Maintenance Foreman/Woman will be responsible for overall health and safety of workers on the maintenance crew by reviewing FLHA’s, site inspections, first aid and other OHS related forms and tasks. This will be conducted in Site Docs Safety Application. This also includes training of proper, safe use of mowers, ride on mowers, weed wicker’s and other maintenance related equipment.

The Maintenance Foreman/Woman will maintain contact with customers, clients and vendors to ensure overall satisfaction as well as conducting any and all related contractual and invoicing duties in the LMN system. The Maintenance Foreman/Woman will ensure proper function of all company machines and vehicles, this includes scheduling of repairs and service, as well as ensuring proper inspections are completed on time.

Work with Western construction crews may be required or encouraged at certain points depending on maintenance work load. The above duties are related to both summer and winter seasons. The maintenance crews will switch over to seasonal landscape and maintenance operations in the beginning of summer season. Occasional Operation of flat deck truck and deliveries may be required.

**Job Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Operating of machinery including small track machines/vermeers and larger skidsteers for movement of materials, hauling of snow loads, and the safe transport of these pieces of equipment
- Physically clearing snow from sidewalks with backpack blowers and shovels and parking lot clearing with skidsteers, including client care and daily site visit
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of workers who maintain lawns, gardens, parks, interior plantscapes and other landscaped areas in the summer season
- Plan and estimate the materials and labour requirements for individual contracts, including estimates, invoicing, and other business-related processes in the LMN program
- Organize the planting and maintenance of trees, gardens, lawns, shrubs and hedges in the field with a crew of 2-3 people in the summer season
- Use mowers, ride on mowers, back pack blowers, weed whackers and other machinery to complete all desired maintenance tasks in the summer season
- Establish work schedules and procedures and co-ordinate activities with other teams, Resolve work-related problems and prepare and submit progress and other reports
- Requisition supplies and materials
- Maintain personnel records (hours worked) and transfer daily totals to Human Resources Manager
- Provide snow removal services during winter months if work is avaliable. May perform the same duties as workers supervised
- Train workers on proper use of maintenance related equipment
- Ensure compliance of Westerns OHS policy, use appropriate forms in site docs app such as daily FLHA’s to keep workers safe
- Offseason duties including year end safety manual revisions/additions and safety program implementations, tool and building organization, site measurements
- Basic maintenance of equipment, such as oil top ups, mower blades, and air filters

**Qualifications**:

- 1-2 years previous maintenance experience
- 1-2 previous management and maintenance experience
- Technologically proficient with phone apps, computers, microsoft office.
- High school diploma or higher

**Working Conditions**:

- Normal Working Hours_ (Summer May 1-Oct 31)
- 6am-5pm Mondays to Friday (hours can vary)
- 7am-4pm Saturdays (hours can vary), Sundays off
- Normal Working Hours_ (Winter Nov 1-April 30)
- 6am-2pm Mondays to Fridays (hours can vary due to snowfalls)
- 7am-12pm Saturdays and Sundays (hours can vary due to snowfalls)
- Overnights may occur on heavy snowfalls.
- Days off Per Week_ - Sundays and Statutory Holidays (unless on call due to snowfalls in the Wintertime)
- Benefits_ - Blue Cross group benefits package.
- Holiday Schedule_ - 2 weeks notice for requested days off. 2 weeks off per calendar year, after 1 year of service is completed. Preference being 1 week per 6 months, employees are entitled to take 2 consecutive weeks, or other combinations of days off.

**Salary**: $23.00-$25.00 per hour
