**Job Description**:
**What is the Opportunity?**:
The Coordinator, the Oscar Peterson Program is responsible for coordinating the daily activities and facilitating the communications of the Oscar Peterson Program (OPP) to ensure the successful delivery and implementation of the program. With a passion for music education, the Coordinator plays an important role in facilitating the Program’s mission of increasing access to high quality music instruction for young musicians from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds.
**Main Duties & Responsibilities**:
- Coordinate all student activities within the Oscar Peterson Program.
- Facilitate effective communication between program students, artistic staff, and administrative staff.
- Attend all rehearsals and performances.
- Serve as liaison between the students and parents and the administration of the Oscar Peterson Program.
- Administer the audition process.
- Record attendance and maintain records.
- Maintain weekly communications with participants.
- Coordinate with Artistic Director in planning of events.
- Coordinate scheduling and communications with Student Mentors and RCM Faculty.
- Coordinate Jazz Artist-in-Residence workshop activities and outreach performances.
- Other related duties as required.
**Job Requirements**:
**What We're Looking For**:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus 1-2 years of progressive experience ideally in an academic setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of music education and/or an understanding of the standards and content associated with the Royal Conservatory system of music education would be considered an asset.
- Exceptional interpersonal communicator, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated success in working with youth from underrepresented and diverse communities.
- Background of volunteerism.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, effectively manages competing priorities and deadlines.
- High degree of initiative, ability to solve problems and improve processes.
- Sound judgment, tact, diplomacy, humanism, integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Positive attitude and ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
- Well-honed interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Experience with Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, Power Point).
**Additional Information**:
- Availability to work weekends and attend on-site activities on Sundays required.
- Works with confidential issues and data.
- A Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
