Reliable is seeking a highly motivated and experienced OH&S and NSC Compliance Officer to ensure that our organization complies with all Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) regulations and National Safety Code (NSC) requirements.

The OH&S and NSC Compliance Officer will be responsible for ensuring the health, safety and welfare of all employees and contractors working at our towing locations in Alberta and British Columbia. This person will develop, implement, and monitor safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures in line with local, provincial, and federal regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with NSC requirements and maintain a strong working relationship with relevant regulatory bodies.
  • Identify potential safety hazards and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Provide training and support to employees and contractors on health and safety topics.
  • Assist operation managers on investigating incidents and accidents and ensure that corrective actions are taken to prevent recurrence.
  • Manage WorkSafe BC and WCB claims, ensuring they are processed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on health and safety activities and initiatives.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans.
  • Keep abreast of changes in health and safety legislation and ensure the company is in compliance.
  • Collaborate with senior management to ensure that safety is a priority throughout the company.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of new processes and procedures to improve health and safety.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in OH&S and NSC compliance, preferably in a multi-location organization.
  • Strong understanding of local, provincial and federal OH&S regulations and NSC requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement effective health and safety programs and procedures.
  • Ability to conduct safety audits, assessments, and investigations.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and motivate others.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Valid driver's license.
