Responsible to deliver the right load to the right location at the right time and in a safe manner using a quality focused customer service approach.
- Conducts pre-trip / security inspection prior to starting their trip
- Plans routes to minimize time and expense and maximize safety and quality service
- Ensures driver logbook and 7-day record are in the truck at all times when driving company vehicles in the United States.
- Secures cargo and manages hazardous materials safely
- Drives in a safe and courteous manner, complying with government regulations and company standard operating procedures.
- Operates company vehicles on client property in a manner so as to unload and place the materials in the correct location, leave a clean site, and not damage any customer property
- Communicates any issues or concerns related to schedule with supervisor/ front office
- References/ maintains knowledge of customer locations, yard access, acceptable delivery hours, heights and other preferences
- Maintains a high level of customer service and engages with the customer in a manner that fosters respect and quality service
- Maintains a corporate professional image in all dealings with customers or suppliers.
- Reports any customer complaints or comments or any matter which may be of concern or represent a risk to the company to the Supervisor
- Receives payments from clients and submits payments to bookkeeping.
- Ensures all daily truck logs are completed & logged
- Performs basic daily maintenance.
- Advises the Supervisor immediately of necessary repairs or damage.
- Complies with mandated Drug and Alcohol evaluations as randomly selected by licensing body or as requested by the company.
- Advises the Sales Rep or Supervisor of any potential new business encountered.
- Contributes to company workload / activities when not driving as time permits (or as directed by the Supervisor) such as receiving and unloading of incoming trucks, assisting with overall mixing operations, assisting with totes, general yard repairs/ clean-up, general labour throughout the plant and property, etc.
- Practices and contributes to positive teamwork by engaging in respectful working relationships with all members of the company
- Contributes to continuous improvement initiatives across the company
- Ensures confidentiality of all company information.
- Maintains a safe driving record
- Provides abstract of license and driving record annually and whenever requested.
**Qualifications**:
- Class 1 driver’s license
- Able to drive a B-Train
- More than two years of experience operating
- High school diploma or GED
- Able to demonstrate safe driving record
- Reliable attendance at work
- Able to communicate clearly in English
- Able to read and write in English
- Current Passport for US - Fast Track preferred.
- Certified to operate a forklift
- Able to perform emergency repairs an asset
**Job Type**: Seasonal
Contract length: 4-5 months
Pay: $30.00-$33.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
Additional pay:
- Overtime pay
