**About the HPBIA**
The Hyde Park Business Improvement Association represents more than 450 businesses in the Hyde Park area of Uptown London. Our mission is to create a vibrant, beautiful, and community-focused commercial district. Through placemaking, events, beautification, and business support, the HPBIA fosters growth and enhances the local economy while connecting with the broader London community.
**Position Overview**
**Key Responsibilities**
- Support the weekly Uptown Market series, every Sunday
- Assist in planning, logistics, and on-site execution of HPBIA events and experiences.
- Help with event setup, takedown, vendor coordination, and volunteer supervision.
- Serve as an HPBIA ambassador at community events and promotions.
**Marketing & Communications Support**
- Assist in creating engaging content for social media (Facebook, Instagram) to promote member businesses and events.
- Help design print and digital materials (e.g., QR code posters, business directories).
- Support event planning, promotions, and BIA beautification initiatives as needed.
- Communicate regularly with members and partners regarding BIA initiatives and events.
- Distribute event materials and information to local businesses.
- Provide front-line customer service and support to visitors, partners, and members.
- Maintain accurate and organized office files and databases.
- Assist with internal communications, record-keeping, and general administrative duties.
- Help update the BIA’s online business directory and events calendar.
**Qualifications**
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook); familiarity with Canva or other design tools is an asset.
- Detail-oriented with excellent time management and organizational abilities.
- Comfortable working independently and in a team setting.
- Personable, professional, and community-minded.
- Familiarity with Hyde Park and/or London is a strong asset.
- Experience with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace; basic knowledge of Canva and/or Meta Business Suite is a bonus.
- Currently enrolled in or recent graduate of a program in business, communications, event management, or a related field.
**Eligibility (Canada Summer Jobs Program)**
Applicants must:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have refugee protection status
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada
**Additional Information**:
- Position Title: Community Events & Engagement Assistant

- Duration: 8 weeks (Starting July 2025)
- Hours: 30 hours/week — Tuesday to Thursday (9:30 AM-5:00 PM) and Sundays (7:30 AM-2:00 PM)
- Hourly Wage: $17.20
**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 8 weeks
Pay: $17.20 per hour
