This team of 15 Land Use Planners brings together expertise in land use planning, policy, and natural resource management to uphold the values set out in the Agricultural Land Commission Act. Collaboration, purpose-driven work, and a shared commitment to preserving agricultural land are at the heart of everything they do. **The Role**: **Qualifications**: **Education and Experience Requirements for both Planning Officer 21R and 24R**: - Bachelor’s Degree or higher in resource management, geography, land use planning, environmental planning, agriculture, land systems, soil science, or a related field. - Experience interpreting and analyzing legislation, regulation, bylaws, or policies. - Experience writing reports and/or recommendations for external stakeholders, clients, decision makers, senior management, or executive. - A valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence or equivalent. Preference may be given to those with experience: - Working for an administrative tribunal. Additional requirements for full working level (Planning Officer 24R): - Minimum of one (1) year of experience in the rural land use planning or natural resource management field; OR, - Minimum of six (6) months of experience in agricultural land use planning. Provisos for both Planning Officer 21R and 24R: - May be required to travel overnight(s) to various locations in British Columbia. - Conduct site visits which may include travel by vehicle, air or foot, and outdoor work in all weather conditions. **About this Position**: There is currently one (1) permanent, full time position available at the ALC office in Burnaby. Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment. An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies in Burnaby.
