**The Opportunity**:
The City of Red Deer is currently recruiting for a **Security Support Technician** to provide support for Corporate Security systems and programs.
- High School Diploma or equivalency (e.g. GED), plus either:

- Two years of security system-related experience; OR
- A one-year certificate in Criminology, Security, Policing Studies, Justice, Law, or a related field, AND at least one year of security system-related experience; OR
- A two-year diploma in any of the fields noted above and less than one year of security system-related experience.
- Current Standard First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Level 'C', and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification or the ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
- Intermediate proficiency with computer systems and the ability to type at least 30 words per minute.
- Physical ability to perform the duties outlined in the job description.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills, as well as the ability to self-manage, take initiative, and work as a member of a high-functioning team.
- Formal training in non-violent crisis intervention for contact professionals (such as Verbal Judo, Peace in the Workplace, etc.), or equivalent.

- Previous experience working with Genetec Security Desk or another similar security management system for video and physical access.
- Previous experience working in a public sector environment (E.g.: Municipal government, healthcare, post-secondary, etc.).
- Previous experience in a customer service or security-related environment.
- Completion of coursework and/or formal training related to drug awareness, mental health awareness, occupational health and safety, emergency management, or other related topics.
- Basic/intermediate understanding of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) and crime prevention.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- Intermediate proficiency with computer systems and the ability to type at least 30 words per minute, video surveillance review and export, and video monitoring.
- Impeccable references indicating credibility, honesty, trustworthiness, etc.
- Ability to self-manage, take initiative, and work as a member of a high-functioning team.
- Ability to prioritize tasks in the order of urgency and importance.

**Remuneration**:
$32.87 to $34.60 per hour

**Hours of Work**:
37.50 hours biweekly; Monday to Friday as scheduled, some evening and weekend work may be required when needed.
