**Who are our HR Advisors?**

Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, our HR Advisors provide counsel to an assigned portfolio of leaders and employees while they perform a variety of generalist duties, build solid relationships with teams and support CAPREIT’s human capital strategy.

**About the HR Advisor opportunity**:

- Serve as a trusted HR advisor and provide expert guidance on a wide range of HR matters, policies and procedures including employee relations, performance management, talent acquisition, people development, HR investigations and terminations, etc.
- Resolve HR issues with solid judgment calls based on policies, employment legislation and company culture.
- Partner with leaders to address employee-related issues and counsel on conflict resolution, performance improvement and progressive disciplinary matters including suspensions/dismissal.
- Mediate employee issues and perform HR investigations while ensuring to liaise with external legal counsel, internal Legal and our Risk and Compliance teams.
- Support with coordinating new team members’ onboarding, orientation, and training.
- Coach and provide resources for talent development, compensation, organizational change, and employee relations.
- Drive employee engagement initiatives to foster a positive culture through effective communication, recognition programs, and employee feedback mechanisms.
- Partner with the HRIS team to compile, analyze and report on HR metrics by identifying trends and providing recommendations.
- Perform timely people offboarding duties, exit interviews and terminations.
- Respond to Service Canada, employment verification or legal requests.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in files, ATS and HR systems, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Guide the assigned team on the use of our HR systems (iCIMS & SAP Success Factors) and coordinate payroll requirements.
- Liaise with our Benefits team for benefits coordination, WorkSafe BC, WCB, WSIB and employee leaves.
- Support various HR projects and perform other assigned duties as needed.

**What you need to succeed**:

- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in HRM, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 1-2 years of experience as a generalist/advisor, preferably in the real estate, property management, retail, hospitality, or manufacturing industry.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective partnerships.
- Professional with mature judgment, strong principles, tact, discretion, and diplomacy.
- Logical and analytical thinker with strong planning and organizational skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Flexible and the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
- Creative, forward thinker with a high degree of initiative.
- Completion of or working towards CHRP designation is an asset.
