**Responsibilities**:
Bookkeeping
- Maintain books of account (including but not limited to preparing checks, coding and posting invoices, preparing deposits, journal entries, reconciliations, petty cash)
- Tracking commissions from various vendors and allocating them to the correct advisor
- Oversee issuing of checks/payment of invoices
- Prepare monthly/quarterly financial statements for advisors
- Liaise with staff and support them in bookkeeping needs related to their program areas
- Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable
- Maintain year-end working papers and spreadsheets, and assist with preparation for any audits or independent reviews
- Complete monthly reconciliation for all accounts (bank and brokerage accounts)
- Maintain current knowledge of regulatory changes and impacts on the organization's books of account
- Maintain an accurate and complete trail of supporting documentation for all financial and bookkeeping activities
- Assist clients with their bookkeeping needs and offer consulting/support
Payroll
- Complete all payroll functions: process monthly payroll, submit remittances, process ROE's, generate T4's, etc.
- Coordinate with HR to maintain employee records and ensure employee data is correct and accurate
- Address issues and questions regarding payroll from employees
- Assist clients with payroll questions and inquiries and offer consulting/support
Other tasks as assigned. Being a small company, there may be tasks outside of your role and the team works together to the same goal.
**Requirements**:
- Post secondary education in a related field
- Minimum of 3-5 years of bookkeeping and payroll experience with solid Canadian payroll knowledge
- Full-Cycle payroll knowledge
- QuickBooks online and Ceridian experience is a strong asset
- Accomplished in analytical, quantitative and social skills
- Well-informed in basic accounting principles and solid financial acumen
- Outstanding data entry skills
- Understanding of federal and provincial payroll regulations and requirements
- General proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel preferred
- Ability to work independently in a time sensitive environment
- Excellent attention to detail and takes ownership of their work
- Customer Service oriented
- Ability to manage changing priorities
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
