The Lab Technician will report to the Lab Lead, as part of the operations organization. The Lab Technician will be responsible for generating quality analytical data and supporting operations using all laboratory resources. Key interfaces will be other technicians and the chemist.

Minimum Requirements:
- Laboratory Technician, Technologist diploma or equivalent- 5+ years experience in a Petroleum Refinery lab or other analytical laboratory- Environmental lab experience is considered an asset- Experience with ISO 9001:2015 standard compliance and requirements- Laboratory instrumentation and software (chromatography, spectroscopy, electrochemistry)- Analytical wet chemistry techniques- GLP (Good Lab Practices) knowledge and skills- Ability to work both in a team setting and individually with mínimal supervision- Strong attention to detail for accuracy and reporting- Strong proficiency in LIMS (i.e. ThermoFisher Scientific SampleManager)

Responsibilities:
- Adhere to SUNCOR ENERGY safety, health and environmental standards- Perform property testing on various refinery streams and finished products- Follow statistical rules and perform corrective actions- Perform minor maintenance and troubleshooting on laboratory equipment- Record all testing results in the Lab Information Management System (LIMS)- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Location and other Key Details:
- You will work out of our Sarnia location in Oakville, located at 1900 St. Clair Parkway- This position has a 6-month probationary period which thereafter is represented by the Sarnia Employees' Bargaining Association.- It is a rotating shift schedule - 8-hour days and 10-hour shifts
