JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking an experienced full-time Estimator to join our growing team in Burlington, Ontario. Under the supervision of the team’s VP of Project Delivery, you will be provided with a satisfying and challenging career: creating multiple construction estimates and budgets of varying complexity and size for our clients. You will play a key part in helping our team maintain its leading reputation in the industry and in continuing our rapid growth. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Creates comprehensive and accurate estimates easily convertible to construction budgets.
- Receives project documentation and creates estimate breakdown.
- Follows up with project success to update future estimates.
- Pre-qualifies and analyzes new vendors for potential use.
- Creates and issues tenders for sub-contracting pricing using Building Connected
- Creates and maintains a costing database for future budgeting.
- Provides weekly update on all current and upcoming estimates and budgets.
- Provides monthly reporting of issued estimates and budgets and track success rates.
- Identifies project risks, mitigating company exposure to them effectively.
- Considers project schedule as well as construction challenges in all estimates.
- Proactively follows up on tenders and RFIs.
- Performs Post-Project reviews to compare thoroughness and accuracy of construction budget vs. actual cost.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Architecture or Construction Management.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the role of Construction Estimator within a General Contracting (GC) and / or Design-Build GC firm.
- Working knowledge of Site Development, Building Envelope and M&E Systems for ICI facilities.
- Previous experience estimating completed projects ranging in size, complexity and value.
- Previous experience delivering projects using CCA 5a, CCA 5b, CCDC 2, CCDC 3 and CCDC 14 Prime Contracts.
- Previous experience using CCA 1 & CCA 17 Sub-Contracts.
- Proficiency in the use of construction project management software (CMiC or similar), as well as Microsoft Excel.
- Experienced in organizing construction data using the most recent MasterFormat.
- PQS designation, or working towards it, is considered an asset.
- Gold Seal Certification is desirable, but not required.
- French bilingual is desirable, but not required.

- Ability to provide confident and personable service to clients and sub-contractors.
- Ability to work on multiple estimates of varying size and complexity at the same time.
- Ability to estimate high level budgets as well as detailed line-item estimates.
- Ability to instigate action from Sub-Trades and Vendors/Suppliers.
- Highly competent and effective negotiator.
- Ability to effectively communicate with Project Managers and Site Superintendents to verify scope capture and project plan of the estimate.
- Ability to effectively communicate with engineers and architects to ensure all scopes of work are considered.
- Possesses effective writing and oral communication skills.
- Ability to successfully maintain and nurture client and vendor relationships.
