**General Job Description**
Speaking French to the children.
Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and taking children to local points of interest in French and English as directed by the Teacher/Administrator; Taking the children for 3 period lessons in French. Following Montessori philosophy.
Provide opportunities to express themselves and follow their inner directive in activities in French or English as directed by the Teacher;
Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits; Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems;
Maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children;
Observe the children and respond to the abilities, interests and needs of children under the direction of the Head Teacher. Discuss progress or problems with Head Teacher/Administrator and other staff members; Help Support, the Montessori child-care program that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children;
Maintenance of the class and children’s areas, cleaning of community areas when required. Ensure that the building, materials and playground are clean, safe and maintained.
Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children, Follow the direction of the Head Teacher,
Model and facilitate positive techniques for conflict resolution.
- Adhere to a policy of confidentiality and respect regarding issues with students, families and other staff members.
Solid understanding of the Montessori Philosophy, or demonstrated willingness to learn and adapt to the philosophy in the classroom
May be requested to assist in hot lunch duties and assist in another class; Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children; Plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours
Pre-requisite
CPR level C/ Standard First Aid certified, Criminal Reference check with the Vulnerable Sector Bondable
Suitability: Effective interpersonal skills; Flexibility; Team player; Excellent oral communication; Excellent written communication; Interpersonal awareness; Dependability; Judgement; Values and ethics; Reliability; Professional communication with Principal, Supervisor, co-workers and parents.
Demonstrate the ability to plan and implement group activities with Principal or Supervisors approval. *; The applicant should also be a Self-starter who takes initiative to add to the classroom, Warm, caring individual who loves children, Desire to work in a school setting and contribute to a collaborative, team philosophy, responsible, patient, must have good classroom management skills.
Work as team players with the all Blaisdale Montessori School employees and families of the school. Willingness to step into another class if requested or in emergency or unforeseeable circumstances.

*Working Conditions**: Manual dexterity; Attention to detail; Combination of sitting, standing, walking; Bending, crouching, kneeling, ability to lift 30 pounds.
Pay: $18.90 per hour
