**Salary**:
Classification 17+, $36.16 per hour, as per BCGEU Support Collective Agreement. Temporary employees also receive an additional $0.50/hr. in lieu of benefits, as well as having 6% vacation pay paid out with each pay.

**Description**:
Under the limited supervision and direction of the Manager(s) of Facilities Services, the Mechanical Technician carries out the preventive maintenance and servicing program for all systems on all campuses, and diagnose and repair all heating, ventilation, plumbing, minor electrical, refrigeration and hot water systems, in order to maintain continuous function. The Mechanical Technician will also be required to perform general maintenance work on buildings, grounds, and equipment; trouble shoot and repair minor electrical and pneumatic control systems; and repair faulty systems by changing bearings, motors, couplers, pumps, valves, and controls.

Those in this position must be capable of operating mobile equipment such as tractors, loaders, and forklifts. This position is based out of Dawson Creek but would be expected to travel to the surrounding NLC campuses when the need arises.

Those in this position are expected to work independently, as well as to be an effective team member, contributing to the overall dynamics of the Facilities Department. Utilizing excellent troubleshooting skills, along with the ability to work in confined spaces and to have height tolerance are expected in the day-to-day tasks of the work. All work completed will meet or exceed the regulatory and safety standards.
