**Junior Transformer Technician**

**About the Role**:
Shermco is seeking a motivated and service-oriented **Junior Transformer Technician** to join our growing team In this entry-level role, you will assist senior technicians with the installation, preventative maintenance, inspection, and troubleshooting of transformers. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on field experience while developing your technical skills in a supportive, safety-first environment.

**Responsibilities**:
**Key Responsibilities**:

- Assist with transformer service operations, including inspection, assembly, vacuum oil filling, testing, and commissioning.
- Support field operations while maintaining compliance with company and industry safety standards.
- Participate in troubleshooting and escalate more complex issues to senior technicians.
- Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, equipment used, and project progress.
- Communicate effectively with peers, management, and clients regarding work activities and safety concerns.
- Maintain tools and equipment in safe, clean, and functional condition.
- Follow all quality assurance protocols and assist with pre-completion inspections.
- Commit to ongoing learning and technical skill development through on-the-job training

Qualifications:
**Requirements**:

- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical diploma or relevant trade certification preferred.
- 1-2 years of related field experience, or equivalent education and training.
- Basic understanding of transformer operations and electrical/mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, diagrams, and work scopes.
- Familiarity with the use of hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office; willing to learn company-specific software.
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to teamwork and safety.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; Class 1 license is an asset.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently (up to 85%) and work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, based on project needs.
- Ability to work in the United States is considered a major asset.
- Any other duties you are trained to do.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Technical background in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
- Journeyman Electrician or Millwright certification.
- Experience with transformer oil processing, testing, or high-voltage equipment.
