HERD, the leader in front-end collision protection, is now seeking experienced **Department Supervisor** to join our Evening team

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Oversee the requirements of departments as a whole; regularly checking on all workers during the shift
- Assist all shop personnel with production issues and assist with finding a solution
- Assist Shift Supervisor in determining staffing requirements
- Monitor department group leader’s performance and encourage/assist with skill development
- Develop staff skills and encourage teamwork
- Monitor and train staff on current tasks to improve skills and decrease rework to make sure production goals are met
- Help departments organize, communicate & coordinate to increase productivity, improve flow, maximize space, and minimize errors
- Adjust the use of available resources to compensate for potential time lost when initial goals are not met, in order to achieve the next best outcome
- Facilitate and enforce safety programs, policies, and provide safety training with the involvement and guidance of the production manager
- Investigate issues, both production and safety, to find immediate short-term resolutions while working with management to find long term, permanent solutions
- Assist in the development and implementation of procedures & systems to maximize quality, production & material flow. Ensure employees are trained properly on new systems and held accountable
- Be aware of company policies and ensure their enforcement; ensure new policies are properly implemented and understood by all workers
- Assist Shift Supervisor in resolving staff concerns, enforce disciplinary actions as well as assist with performance management. Document all issues and disciplinary actions appropriately and according to company policy
- Confirm that all required drawings, shop space, equipment, tools, and materials are supplied for each department to complete assigned tasks
- Keep all staff aware of any changes in the work schedule

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- 3+ years supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting
- Basic computer skills
- Strong leadership planning, delegation and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to train, guide and motivate employees
- Ability to prioritize and manage time and workload efficiently
- Results-oriented and aware of deadlines
- Basic understanding of lean principles
- Lean manufacturing experience is an asset.
- 5S training is an asset.
