We are on the lookout for an Operations Manager in Richmond, British Columbia, who shares our passion for customer satisfaction and safety excellence. In this dynamic role, you will play a crucial part in maintaining and reinforcing our commitment to a secure and healthy work environment.
This role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and an ability to drive efficiency and effectiveness within our operations.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Daily Operations**
- Oversee daily logistics operations including warehousing, fulfillment & sortation processes ensuring efficient and timely service delivery.
- Co-ordinating, assigning & reviewing the work of employees engaged in shipping, receiving, storing, distributing, sorting and maintaining inventories of materials, parts and products; coordinating production work; dispatching crews; scheduling transportation crews and routes; operating vehicles; and other related activities
- Oversee sortation processes to ensure accurate and efficient sorting of packages. Optimize sorting workflows and implement best practices to enhance throughput maintaining highest quality standards
- Ensuring high levels of process adherence & customer service through field audits & quality reviews
- Maintaining high quality standards in Inventory accuracy & cycle counts
- Monitoring & reporting key KPIs to management, maintaining best practices, sustainable operations & performance standards
- Overseeing health and safety training and compliance with health and safety regulations
- Overseeing daily utilization of the local fleet, planning efficient route plans and scheduling staff accordingly each day
- Delegating and participating in on-site responsibilities (packing, padding/wrapping, disassembly of furniture, etc.)
- Solving complex problems in real-time while keeping cross-functional leadership apprised of results
- Ensuring the smooth operation of the crew's daily activities
- Requisitioning supplies and materials
- Ensuring smooth operation of vehicles, equipment and machinery and arranging for maintenance and repair work
- May perform the same duties as workers supervised
**Team Management**
- Leading team check-ins/huddles and providing updates on company policies and procedures
- Training and coaching a team of Team leads, warehouse associates, delivery drivers, delivery assistants
- Fostering a culture of workplace safety, high service levels, and productivity
- Conducting interviews with prospective team members and making hiring decisions and training workers in job duties, safety procedures and company policies
- Leading team development and cultivating values in operational excellence and professionalism
- Planning, organizing and overseeing operational logistics, establishing work schedules and procedures, resolving work-related issues, providing inputs into progress and other reports and coordinating activities with other departments.
- Engaging in strategic planning and forecasting; appraising performance, resolving problems and addressing staffing needs
- Maintain strong relationships with clients to understand their needs and address any service-related issues promptly.
**Project management**
- Participating in network level initiatives on setting standard operating procedures & driving continuous improvement to increase efficiency and reduce operational costs.
- Lead and manage operational projects, including facility upgrades, technology implementations, and process reengineering.
- Participating in budget development and oversight for the operations
- Engaging in strategic planning and forecasting; appraising performance, resolving problems and addressing staffing needs.
**Qualifications**:
- 3+ years of experience in warehousing, transportation, operations, and logistics
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field. Advanced degree or certifications (e.g., MBA, PMP, Six Sigma) are a plus
- 2+ years of managerial experience in a warehouse setting with the ability to execute management directives during a time of exponential growth and to supervise a team
- 2+ years of experience in quality control and monitoring employee productivity/quality in accordance with operating standards
- Previous experience in truck management, maintenance, and truck driving are a plus
- Experience in B2C/B2B deliveries and fulfillment in a large facility
