**What we need from you**
- Plant growing experience (5 years plus)
- Strong motivation to learn, and dedication to continuous improvement
- Strong computer skills
- Superior skills in organization and time planning, interpersonal skills with the proven ability to communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization
- Adept at multitasking and coping with conflicting priorities
- Confident self-starter and team player
- Experience in a similar role is considered a strong asset
- Technical knowledge of the plants grown at the company is a preference
- Participate in training for operating tractors, WCB, WHIMIS, and first aid and BC Pesticide Applicators License
- Positive attitude and ability to work well in a team environment
- Detail-oriented, accurate, organized

**Working Conditions**
- This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, with flexible hours.
- During the main growing season (March-October) this person may be required to work irregular hours depending on the weather and operational requirements.
- Being able to walk for periods of several hours at a time and working outside in the elements (especially in the heat of the summer) is essential for this position.

**Position Summary**

Plant Growers are critical to our ability to produce quality plants reliably for our customers around North America. This role works closely with Section Growers to assist in data collection and help carry out crop decisions made by the Section Grower, including but not limited to irrigation, fertilization, trimming, spacing, and moving of plants. Additionally, Grower Assistants can assist in the implementation and evaluation of research trials at Qualitree, at the discretion of their supervisor and the R&D Lead.

This position reports directly to the Lead Grower. S/he works in growing spaces, and in an open office alongside the Section Growers. After learning the tasks of the position as well as becoming knowledgeable as to how we operate, it is expected that Grower Assistants are able to work independently and with autonomy.

**Your responsibilities will include**
- Assist in inspection of crops in delegated Growing Sections
- Collect and process soil and water samples as required by Section Growers
- Maintaining sampling equipment as required
- Assist in irrigation decisions, programming, and irrigation checks
- As required, collect and record data including photos and observations of crops or trials
- Completion of small-scale crop culture tasks such as moving, cleaning, trimming of plants
- Applications of pesticides as required by Section Growers
- Participate in cross-training for weekend and holiday coverage of Section Growers
- Contribute to a positive, productive Growing Team environment
