Duties and Responsibilities:
Customer Service:

- Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner, providing assistance and answering any inquiries.
- Maintain a high level of customer service throughout the checkout process, ensuring a positive shopping experience.

Cash Handling:

- Accurately process sales transactions by scanning or entering product codes, totaling purchases, and handling cash, debit/credit card payments, or other forms of payment.
- Verify the authenticity of cash and promptly report any counterfeit or suspicious activity to the supervisor.

Point of Sale (POS) Operation:

- Operate the POS system efficiently, ensuring accurate and timely entry of prices, discounts, and promotions.
- Process refunds or exchanges following established procedures and guidelines.

Product Knowledge:

- Develop a good understanding of the market's products, including pricing, promotions, and features.
- Provide accurate information to customers regarding product availability, ingredients, and nutritional information.

Cash Register and Till Management:

- Maintain an organized and well-stocked cash register area, including adequate change denominations and receipt paper.
- Perform opening and closing procedures, including counting and reconciling the cash drawer.

Upselling and Cross-selling:

- Identify opportunities to upsell or cross-sell products to customers, promoting market specials, loyalty programs, or additional items.

Bagging and Packaging:

- Efficiently bag or package customer purchases, ensuring the proper handling of delicate or perishable items.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization at the bagging station and replenish bags as needed.

Adhere to Policies and Procedures:

- Follow all market policies, procedures, and safety guidelines, including cash handling procedures, refund policies, and security protocols.
- Maintain awareness of and comply with relevant local, state, and federal regulations related to sales transactions and customer privacy.

Qualifications and Skills:

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous cashier or customer service experience preferred.
- Basic math skills and proficiency in handling cash transactions.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Familiarity with point of sale (POS) systems and cash register operation.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
