With over 30 years of service, we are a community-based agency providing residential treatment and care. Our children’s programs are catered towards 6 - 18 year old boys that have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, developmental and intellectual disabilities, and concurrent disorders.

We respect the unique needs of every child and youth we serve and develop treatment plans to encourage self-sufficiency, independence and choice through a consistent team approach with parents, family, teachers and social workers. Through applied behavioral analysis, life skills training, communication development, social interaction and community integration, we offer supports to develop the social, emotional, physical, recreational and intellectual development of each child in our care.

D.L.C. is increasing our staffing complements and we currently have openings for **Part Time Child and Youth Counsellors **and **Full Time Support Child and Youth Counsellors.**

**Responsibilities**:

- Ensure a supportive, safe, and predictable environment through the established routines and limits.
- Assess, manage, design, and implement a treatment plan to respond to the child/youth’s priority needs.
- Work collaboratively to determine and understand the children and how best to support them within the program, and with the long-term goal of family re-integration.
- Provide all children and youth with opportunities for community involvement, as well as a variety of recreational and social activities.
- Actively participate in community integration, focusing on the child/youth's desires.
- Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills, time management and critical thinking skills with a strong understanding of boundaries.
- Ability to provide personal care assistance in varying degrees, to children and youth who require ongoing support with day-to-day functioning.

**Qualification Requirements**
- Post-Secondary Education in Child and Youth Care, Developmental Services, Behavioural Sciences, Psychology, Social Services, Social Work, etc. or in the process of receiving these qualifications.
- Previous experience supporting persons with Autism, intellectual or developmental disabilities of various ages and abilities. Experience in a residential setting would be an asset. Please identify educational placements, volunteer and co-op experiences.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; time management and organizational skills essential.
- Experience with a variety of communication tools such as Pecs, Sign Language etc. would be beneficial.
- G Class Driver’s License in good standing is a definite asset.
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates an asset.

**Hours of Work**

Typical shifts are 9am-9pm, 7am - 3pm and 3pm-11pm and are based on the needs of clients we serve.

Must also be available to attend mandatory annual training which occurs on weekdays between 9am and 4pm approximately 3 times per year.

Must be available to work at minimum:

- every second weekend (full availability on both Saturday and Sunday), AND
- at least three weekdays (Monday - Friday) starting at 3pm (e.g. 3-11pm).
- Full time_
- Week 1: Monday - Friday 7am-3pm;
- Week 2: Monday - Friday 3 - 11pm;
- Week 3: Monday 9am-9pm, Tuesday 1-9pm, Wednesday 1-9pm, Saturday 9am-9pm;
- Week 4: Sunday 9am-9pm, Wednesday 9am-9pm, Thursday 1-9pm, Friday 1-9pm.

**SALARY**:
Part time: $21.25 to $23.65 per hour

Full time: $21.55 to $23.95 per hour + benefits

**LOCATION**:
4 part time and 1 full time position in Scarborough, ON;
2 part time positions in East York, ON
