What You Will Get To Do

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Financial Accounting, the Accounting Clerk plays a vital role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the Town's financial operations with a focus on bank reconciliation. Primary responsibilities include completing daily and monthly bank reconciliations using financial systems, identifying, investigating and resolving discrepancies, preparing journal entries, and ensuring that financial transactions align with internal records and banking statements.

This role also contributes to month-end and year-end processes, audit preparation, and general ledger account reconciliations, while ensuring compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and financial regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations electronically, within the Workday ERP system;- Maintain and update auto-reconciliation rules and resolve system integration issues;- Investigate discrepancies and post correcting journal entries, as required;- Provide stakeholders timely information about returned cheques due to insufficient funds or stop payments;- Prepare general ledger account reconciliations and support audits;- Maintain accurate records and assist with month-end close;- Continuously improve business processes and internal controls;- Assist with financial reports, special projects, and administrative tasks;- Other duties as assigned.
