**Summary**:

Reporting to the Strategic Advisor, Child and Family Wellbeing, the Supervisor, Family Access Program is responsible for overseeing the Family Access and volunteer driver programs. The Supervisor, Family Supports is responsible for oversight of the day-to-day operations and general administration of these programs, as well as overseeing staff and program design, to support families and children.

**Primary Responsibilities**:

- Oversees all Access and related Programs and Services.
- Carries out all work in accordance with all relevant Acts, Regulations, Policies and Procedures.
- Provides direct supervision to program staff; including hiring, determining work priorities, assigning duties, providing direction and training, setting performance standards, conducting performance appraisals, and reviewing program and compiled client assessments and reports.
- Assumes responsibility for a team of full time staff, casual workers and volunteers/students. Leads and conducts regular meetings with team and documents all minutes.
- Oversees and facilitates regular communication with evening and weekend staff.
- Enforces program Policies and Procedures and funder requirements, including compilation of all necessary reports.
- Reviews case files to determine accurate case assignment and service planning.
- Ensures staff are addressing the cultural needs of community members. Including utilization of Elders and Traditional Teachers.
- Liaises between staff and community members as necessary.
- Provides crisis intervention and conflict resolution as needed. (Staff and Community members)
- Ensures programs are developed, designed, implemented and operated in a manner consistent with its cultural base, its agreements with funders and its accountability structures.
- Ensures seamless service delivery of all services (cross and inter-departmentally) to provide community members with best possible outcomes.
- Communicates with internal and external stakeholders as needed to ensure the continued success and smooth operation and integration of all Programs.
- Maintains current knowledge of and working relationships with internal and external resources and social service providers.
- Acts professionally and maintains confidentiality at all times.
- Represents Native Child and Family Services of Toronto at all levels.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills**:
**Education and Experience**:

- Post-secondary education in human services field from accredited school.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working with Aboriginal high risk families in an urban setting, ideally within a Supervisory role.
- Experience in case management and program development is an asset.
- Experience working in a child and family wellbeing setting is an asset.
- Experience working with multi-disciplinary holistic setting is an asset.

**Knowledge**:

- Understanding and grounding in cultural and social issues affecting Aboriginal people.
- Knowledge of the developmental stages of children.
- Knowledge of the child protection processes and responsibilities.
- Awareness of the impact of issues such as mental health, domestic violence and substance abuse on parenting and family structures.
- Knowledge of all relevant Acts, Regulations, Policies and Procedures.

**Skills**:

- Leadership skills to provide direction, guidance and advice to program staff.
- Excellent listening skills and adept conflict resolution
- Ability to assess and react appropriately to situations that might arise with staff and community members.
- Excellent relationship building skills and ability to work within a team approach to service delivery.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and organize multiple demands.
- Program development skills.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, database software)
- Report writing and compilation.
- Ability to perform duties in a professional manner.
