**JOB PROFILE**
Under the leadership of the Logistics Manager, the Customs Compliance Specialist will be responsible for ensuring customs compliance according to government requirements. He/she will ensure compliance with regulations concerning product classification, customs valuation, rules of origin, and free trade agreements, as well as managing the necessary documentation and record keeping.
This position requires versatility, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. He/she will work closely with other departments to ensure optimal compliance and efficient processing of customs transactions.
You will also be responsible for keeping internal processes up to date, ensuring the accuracy of Harmonized System codes, customs duties, validity of certificates and validation of countries of manufacture on a regular basis.
**ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Analyze information and manage the product database in partnership with the Master Data team (product classification, country of origin, regulatory declarations);
- Carry out the complete analysis of customs requirements and manage the renewal of all export and customs documents;
- Ensure that export procedures are followed in accordance with export compliance procedures, and make changes as required;
- Oversee the import and export documentation process at customs;
- Ensure compliance with current laws and regulations related to the full customs service;
- Act as a resource person regarding customs procedures;
- Work in collaboration with purchasing to obtain a reduction in customs duties;
- Treat transportation or customs problems as a priority task;
- Set up analysis of new products vs. customs regulations and determine the correct HS code to use for each product;
- Management of the CTPAT program (Customs trade partnership against terrorism);
- Evaluate the implementation of HS codes and monthly customs fees;
- Determine the need for rulling;
- Participate in various special projects;
- Keep abreast of best practices in the market and ensure continuous improvement of business processes to enhance customs efficiency.
**PROFIL RECHERCHÉ**
- 5 to 10 years' experience in international trade and/or trade compliance in the manufacturing sector;
- Specific customs training and SCD Certified Customs Specialist designation, an asset;
- Good knowledge and use of incoterms depending on the type of transaction;
- Knowledge of origin determination and product classification;
- Excellent knowledge of HS tariffs, CUSMA or other agreements, as well as import, export and anti-dumping duties.
- Good knowledge of Lacey Act, APHIS (Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service) Phase VII
- Strong command of the legal aspects surrounding import, export and customs;
- Bilingualism essential;
- Knowledge of SAP TM module and Excel functionalities a strong asset;
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills;
- Adaptability, flexibility and versatility in a changing and growing environment.
