The department is responsible for the administration of law enforcement, correctional services, policing and police oversight and public safety. The Training Academy (TA) trains in excess of 300 Peace Officers annually. The TA promotes excellence through training by establishing training standards and, in partnership with stakeholders, facilitating the delivery of evidence-based curriculum. In this role, you will have an opportunity to contribute to the safety and security of Albertans.
**Role**:
Reporting to the Director, Business Services, the Operations Officer provides a broad range of complex facility management, operational and support services to the TA. The position is responsible to ensure contracted services are coordinated and delivered ensuring standards are met, facility and infrastructure management, inventory management and equipment maintenance, coordinating agreements for offsite venues, purchasing, documenting procedures, and small and large scale space planning/accommodations projects. This position is multi-faceted and requires the ability to work cooperatively and multi-task, as the position’s work impacts and influences TA staff and learners.
To be successful in this role, you will bring a high level of initiative, independence, adaptability, maturity, and service excellence when managing this portfolio.
- Your leadership abilities will enable you to guide, support, and monitor associated deliverables for compliance and quality assurance with contracted services (such as food, housekeeping, security and laundry)
- Your project management, people and collaboration skills will enable you to work with staff, management, and contractors when leading and coordinating space planning (small and large scale projects) at the TA to ensure timely, effective and efficient moves, renovations, space reconfigurations and facility maintenance.
- Your coordination, tracking and planning skills will allow you to create and manage an equipment inventory program including surplus, and preventative maintenance programs.
- Your systematic reasoning will enable you to develop standards, processes, and practises related to operational services.
- Your technical knowledge will allow you to develop maintenance, occupational health and safety, security, and emergency plans for the branch.
- Your keen eye for detail is paramount when completing facility “walk-arounds” ensuring a safe and reliable environment for the delivery of operations.
- Your business acumen and communication skills will allow you to effectively coordinate day-to-day operations including proper information flow to ensure operational issues are addressed and communicated in a timely manner.
- Your technical skills will aid in performing SCM activities such as PRs, POs, and contract administration as well as championing the effective utilization of 1GX.
- Your troubleshooting skills will enable you to solve issues as they arise.
- Your organizational and time management skills will contribute to effectively managing high volumes and deadlines with competing priorities.
