**Position Summary**

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for various accounting functions related to supporting Accounts Payable of Parker’s Electronic Motion and Controls Division, along with providing month-end support. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Accounting Specialist works with all functional areas of the division and internal/external vendors in ensuring compliance with corporate policies and procedures while maintaining accounting controls.

**Responsibilities**
- Process vendor invoices and verify financial data for use in maintaining accounts payable records
- Ensure accuracy of the division’s financial records for payment, auditing & tax purposes
- Ensure proper authorization to prevent unauthorized/unintentional payments
- Ensure vendors are paid in a timely manner
- Investigate/reconcile vendor issues
- Prepare month-end journal entries, account reconciliations and reports
- Additional accounting related duties/special projects as assigned

**Qualifications**
- Certificate or degree in Finance/Accounting, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 3 years general accounting experience
- Basic knowledge of GAAP
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet constant deadlines
- Strong analytical, mathematical, problem solving, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and work effectively in a team environment
- Knowledge of SAP is an asset
