**GIS and Wildlife Field Technician**

Are you passionate about GIS, wildlife conservation, and hands-on technical work? As a **GIS and Wildlife Field Technician**with RiverStone, you’ll collaborate with experts in the field, providing essential ecological consulting services to both public and private sector clients. Whether you’re working on-site or supporting projects from the office, your work will directly contribute to protecting Ontario’s natural resources and wildlife.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Organize and manage field data for use in scientific reports, summarizing findings within Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
- Create detailed maps and visualizations using ARCGIS, QGIS, and/or AUTOCAD.
- Setup field data collection tablets, organize field collected data, complete mapping using GIS for publication in reports, and manage other GIS-related tasks.
- Support the collection of field data for various habitats, including terrestrial, aquatic, and wetland environments. Tasks may involve wildlife tracking, bird nest and auditory surveys, soil classification, water quality monitoring, electrofishing, and fisheries assessments.
- Contribute to the preparation of technical reports and project proposals.
- Maintain and manage in-office equipment and technical systems.
- Provide support for administrative tasks and project planning as required.
- Collaborate effectively with other environmental professionals in a team setting.

**Role Requirements**
- Post-secondary degree with an emphasis in GIS, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Experience navigating using GPS unit, map, compass, and air photo imagery.
- Knowledge of Ontario ecosystems and basic taxonomic identification.
- Working knowledge of QGIS/ArcGIS, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint and Access. Knowledge of AutoCAD an asset.
- Well-organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently with mínimal supervision.
- Ability/confidence to navigate in wilderness environments.
- Capable of physical labour, including outdoor work in various conditions.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable personal transportation, with a willingness to travel to field sites.

**The following certifications are considered an asset**:

- OMNR Ecological Land Classification
- OMNR Ontario Wetland Evaluator
- OMNR Butternut Health Assessor
- Electrofishing
- ISA or other Certified Arborist
- First Aid & CPR Certification
- Environmental Professional Designation from ECO Canada

**How to Apply**

Pay: $55,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
