**YOUR NEXT OPPORTUNITY**

We are seeking **Event Security Guards** for the City of Vancouver events for short-notice or short-term coverage throughout the Vancouver Area. In this role, you will gain amazing and varied experience to work at different events of City of Vancouver.

This is a temporary position for 4 months (October 1st to January 31st) with the possibility of becoming permanent based on your performance and our operational needs. You will receive your schedule two weeks in advance, and you will have the flexibility to choose your work days ahead of time.

**Responsibilities at each site will vary, but will generally include**:

- Providing exceptional customer service and concierge services to guests
- Responding to customer inquiries in a professional and friendly manner
- Checking and verifying tickets to provide entry to facility
- Effectively assessing situations and escalating to security or management as necessary
- Controlling access to the facility
- Conducting regular foot patrols
- Monitoring in-house radio communications, responding during emergencies as required
- Managing lines and assisting with orderly ingress and egress from the facility
- Reporting unusual activity, property damage, security breaches, etc. to our Operations Centre and emergency services

**You'll be a great fit if you have**:

- Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills
- Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written
- Self-motivated and able to work with mínimal supervision
- A mature and positive attitude, and high level of professionalism
- A passion for being active, since your patrols may be indoors or outdoors, in all weather conditions, and can include stairwells, uneven surfaces, and parkades
- Physical ability to stand and/or patrol for the majority of a shift (4-6-hours average)
- Confidence interacting verbally with team members, client personnel, members of the public, and emergency services
- Some experience in security would be an asset, but other experience in customer service or volunteering can still help you succeed
- Confidence approaching and leading in emergency situations, including trauma, aggression, intoxication, bodily fluids, etc.
- A keen eye for watching and reporting irregularities, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards, and emergency situations
- Basic skills in utilizing technology, including writing reports on a computer, tracking patrols in a smartphone, and communicating via two-way radio

Many of our sites are accessible by transit, but it's an asset if you have your own vehicle and a Class 5 BC Driver's License It's also an asset if you already have other related certifications or clearances, such as Occupational First Aid Level 2 (OFA2) or Advanced Security Training (AST).
