As the Leader, Design Review, you will be responsible for reviewing and commenting on roadway design issues for all subdivisions within the City of Calgary. Reporting to the Manager, Design, you will supervise the staff involved in the review of development permit circulations and construction drawings and work to resolve issues with other Departments and outside developers or consultants.
- Review redevelopment plans, outline plans, legal plans, road closures, land use amendments, and development permits to ensure that they are in accordance with city policy, bylaws, and standards, working closely with consultants, committees, and Council to ensure the appropriate design of surrounding road networks.
- Review subdivision construction drawings submitted by consultants and developers to resolve unsettled or controversial design issues.
- Review third party geometric designs for Public Spaces Delivery.
- Represent Public Spaces Delivery when working with consultants, architects, developers, and internal groups to resolve issues related to non-standard custom designs, specifications, maintenance, etc. by preparing letters and reports for internal and external clients on technical and non-technical issues.
- Support capital and other projects with grade designs.
- Investigate Councilor and public inquiries, meet with other internal and external interest groups or affected parties and the public as a representative of Public Spaces Delivery on various studies and committees.
- Perform administrative tasks such as technical and non-technical letters and reports.
- Provide direction and support to staff including annual work planning, individual performance management, staff development, and succession planning.

**Qualifications**
- A degree in Engineering and at least 4 years of relevant professional engineering experience obtained after receiving your P. Eng. designation and a current licensure as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) **complete with practicing status** OR licensure **and practicing status** by the first day of work. **Click here for more details**.
- Experience in geometric design is required.
- Supervisory experience and knowledge of project management principles will be considered an asset.
