**SPECIAL EVENTS AND ENGAGEMENT - SUMMER STUDENT**

**Temporary Contract, May 20 to July 11, 2025 (8 weeks)**

**35 hours per week, $17.50 per hour**

**(Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM)**

Working with hundreds of amazing volunteers, donors, and community partners, we provide a wide range of community supports for older adults and people with diverse abilities to help them live at home with independence and dignity - something we all deserve. The Special Events summer student will help promote and raise awareness of services for seniors and people with diverse abilities, while assisting the revenue development, communications and volunteer engagement departments. Through the support and guidance of their teams, they will conduct research, interviews, and other journalism-based activities; produce an array of written and visual content for one or more digital and print-based media platforms; assist with in-person and virtual special events and promotions, and assist with office related tasks for the recruitment of volunteers.

**Tasks and Responsibilities**
- Assist to promote and raise awareness of services for older adults and people with diverse abilities
- Coordinate tasks with other team members of the revenue development, communications and volunteer engagement departments
- Assist Development Team by assisting with special event tasks including promotions, social media, setup/tear down of in-person and virtual events, preparing sponsor and participant packages, etc.
- Assist with office related tasks such as preparing volunteer packages, data entry and filing/scanning records as needed
- Produce an array of written and visual content for one or more digital and print-based media platforms
- Assist with other special projects including onsite vegetable garden
- Enthusiasm to help with other duties as required
- Deliver Meals on Wheels

**Requested Skills/Qualifications**
- This job is _funded through _**_Canada Summer Jobs 2025_**, and to be eligible applicants must:

- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the _Immigration and Refugee Protection Act_ for the duration of the employment
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with Ontario legislation and regulations
- Valid G or G2 Driver’s License and daily access to a safe, licensed and reliable vehicle for business-related travel
- Satisfactory police records check for the vulnerable sector
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Completed or working towards a degree, diploma or certificate in communications, marketing, event management, public relations, volunteer management or related program
- Experience with Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier, InDesign) and Canva preferred
- Experience with social media including creating and scheduling posts and creating and engaging reels and stories
- Superior multi-tasking and organizational skills
- Superior attention to detail
- Experience with seniors, volunteers and/or persons with diverse abilities
- Ability to communicate in language other than English an asset
