Parks Labourer 1

**Function/Purpose**:
The **Parks Labourer 1** positions are key positions, which allow Parks to provide our seasonal operational service levels. This position supplements all area of Parks work including Snow and Ice Control, Tree and Shrub care, Spring cleanup, Turf care, Cemetery Services, Parks Construction, Sports Field maintenance, Urban Encampment cleanup and Weed Control in Parks Horticulture.
**Downtown Operations, Construction, Sports Fields, Turf care and Permit repair Crew Duties**: repairing, maintaining and enhancing turf and landscape in City Parks and Facilities.
**Job Requirements**:
- First aid course is desirable
- Alberta Driver’s License
- Six months’ experience
- Ability to perform basic labouring activities
- Ability to operate and maintain related small, motorized equipment (e.g. lawnmowers, chainsaws, etc.) and to use a variety of standard labouring tools.
- Ability to cooperate with colleagues as a team, and to understand and follow instructions.
- Ability to exert frequent physical effort (e.g. planting, digging, pruning, operating mowers, erecting rink boards, playground and other equipment) and to work in fatiguing positions (e.g. bending, kneeling, etc.).
- Ability to work outside in most types of weather.
- Must be able to work independently and/or with a crew.
- Ability to exercise care and to follow all safety policies and procedures, particularly in high public-use areas.

**Remuneration**:$25.02 to 26.49 per hour
**Hours of Work**: 80 hours biweekly, Monday to Friday - 6:00 am to 2:30 pm.
