**The Opportunity**:
The City of Red Deer is currently recruiting to fill three term positions for Parks Foreperson 1 - Infrastructure & Waskasoo Park Services. This position is responsible for scheduling and supervision of City employees and contractors, coordinating material supply and installation, and managing small and large equipment fleet to efficiently achieve a wide range of services. This position also guides staff in the implementation of the Parks Safety and Risk Management Programs and supports the Parks Foreperson 2 in the operational direction of their assigned area. The Parks Foreperson 1 position will be assigned a specific portfolio.
Infrastructure and Waskasoo Park Services
- Supervises and participates in construction & maintenance of various amenities such as trails, signage, site furniture, park structures, playgrounds, multi-courts and outdoor ice surfaces.
- Support the Third Party Agreements and obligations within.
- Grade 12 Diploma
- Apprenticeship certificate or 2-year Diploma in Construction or Trades related field is an asset.
- One year of demonstrated leadership experience.
- 2 years of progressive experience in 1 or more of the following areas:
- Landscape maintenance and construction
- General construction
- Playground construction, inspection and maintenance
- Equipment maintenance and repairs
- Facility snow and ice control
- Outdoor rink construction and maintenance
- Trail construction and maintenance
- Playground inspection certificate is an asset.
- First Aid Certification required.
- Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License
- Leadership for Safety Excellence Certificate, Leadership & Supervisory Training or courses in Office Management would be an asset.
**Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered.
- General knowledge of survey procedures.
- General knowledge of current environmental and ecological practices.
- General knowledge of municipal policies, procedures, and bylaws is an asset.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and rudimentary computer skills are considered an asset.
- Basic knowledge of construction and maintenance practices and principles.
- Basic knowledge of Geospatial software is an asset.
- Ability to read plans and specifications.
- Ability to perform routine carpentry or trades maintenance duties is an asset.
- Ability to work with considerable independence in supervisory and budgetary activities.
- Ability to plan, assign, and supervise equipment and staff efficiently and effectively.
- Ability to operate and maintain a wide variety of related equipment (e.g. skid steers, tractors, and water trucks).
- Ability to exert moderate levels of physical effort on occasion (e.g. digging, operating equipment, erecting rink boards, completing playground and parks maintenance) and to work in fatiguing positions (e.g. bending, kneeling).
- Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with employees and members of the public, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work outside in all seasons and most types of weather.
- Ability to complete daily reports.
- Ability to exercise care and to follow all safety policies and procedures, particularly in high public-use areas.

**Remuneration**:
$31.17 to $33.00 per hour
**Hours of Work**:
80 hours biweekly; Monday to Friday; some shiftwork, evening and weekend work may be applicable.
**Additional Information**:
The term of these positions are anticipated to be approximately seven (7) months.
