**The Role**
Reporting to the Safety and QA/QC Manager the Construction Safety Officer will be responsible for working collaboratively with site project teams and in partnership with our sub-trades to implement and monitor the site-specific safety plan, ensure compliance, report concerns, and implement solutions in accordance with Summit Brooke’s safety program.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Promote Site Safety
- Site/New Worker orientations
- Site Inspections
- Toolbox meetings/safety meeting notes.
- Schedule and conduct regular site safety meetings, audits, and inspections.
- Assist with site safety plans, pre-job hazard assessments.
- Lead investigations of personal injury and or property damage accidents, and near misses.
- Maintain accurate up to date documentation for site safety records.
- Prepare incident reports and recommendations for corrective action.
- Enforce compliance to the company safety program and provincial occupational, health and safety regulations.
- Schedule inspections for safety equipment.
- Administer the WHMIS program.
- Ensure appropriate personal protective equipment is used and is used in a safe manner by trained personnel.
- Provide site super with support as required.
- Ability and willingness to take on other tasks as assigned.
**Qualifications**:
- Minimum 3 years experience in construction safety role.
- NCSO designation or previously held designation is an asset.
- Valid First Aid Level 2 or higher.
- Strong understanding of Occupational Health and Safety legislation, WorkSafe BC regulation, policies, guidelines, and standards.
- Work well as part of a team or independently.
- Proficiency with MS Office.
- Strong English written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Other required certificates: Fall Protection, Confined Space, Elevated Work Platform.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $30.00-$38.00 per hour
