Photovoltaics has been identified as a key technology in the necessary transition away from fossil-combustion-based energy sources. Perovskite solar cells have received tremendous attention in recent years due to their unprecedented sprint in power conversion efficiency and ease of processing. Despite great success, some challenges still remain to be addressed to facilitate the commercialization of this exciting technology. Amongst them, the use of low-cost deposition methods alongside confirmed long-term operational stability of devices is critical for market entry.

**Job description**:
Solaires is looking for a Chemical Lab Technician to support the product development team at our Victoria lab. The Chemical Lab Technician will work hands-on in the lab directly with our scientists and is responsible for customer projects, maintaining the lab, and supporting technical project leads. The Chemical Technician will be testing incoming raw materials, semi-finished and finished products. The individual will maintain the quality assurance process, record and analyze the results gathered during product development and manufacturing. The Chemical Technician is also responsible for maintaining the quality control system as well as generating and maintaining SOP.

**Duties and responsibilities**

Responsibilities for this position include:

- Ordering of raw materials and lab stocks
- Inventory Management
- Lab Equipment Management
- Solar Ink fabrication and quality control tests
- Making and testing coating using techniques such as, SEM, XRD, UV-Vis, etc.
- Preparing samples for developmental customers (Packaging, labelling, shipping and logistics).
- Generate and maintain documentation such as SOP, SDS, QC reports.
- Coordination for product development projects and operational activities between sales and production.
- Support project leads in their experimentation and product development activities
- Coordinate logistics and communications with vendors, shipping carriers, third-party lab, etc.

**Knowledge and Skills**

Knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position include:

- Excellent hands-on skills in chemical lab work
- Highly skilled in reporting results with a good familiarity with spreadsheets and other data analysis software
- High attention to detail
- Proactive, excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Entrepreneurial mindset to be in a start-up environment, flexible to adapt to tasks based on demands within the company
- Industry experienced preferred

**Education**:

- Bachelor's degree or a lesser qualification and significant industrial experience in a laboratory environment, preferably chemistry, or related fields
