CNC Machinist

POSITION OVERVIEW
The CNC Machinist develops programs for both Mill and Lathes and manufactures quality machined parts from drawings and other documentation, meeting required tolerances and specifications and optimizing production quality and efficiency. The CNC Machinist runs different CNC and manual machines and contributes with the development, revision, and update of parts and programs as well as the development of jigs and fixtures for machining parts. The position also ensures that the programs run properly on the machines and supports to other members of the Machine Shop.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate CNC machinery to manufacture quality precision parts (HAAS Mill and HAAS Lathe).
- Develop, test, evaluate, and update any required CNC program for either CNC Mills (4th and 5th Axis) and CNC Lathes (Y Axis).
- Identify and plan machining operations and support other Machinists on this matter. Develop and program jigs and fixtures to machine parts.
- Manually machine and manufacture quality precision parts (manual lathe and mill) as required.
- Measure and inspect machined parts to ensure they meet company standards.
- Monitor and preventively maintain machinery and tools, troubleshoot as required.
- Develop, build, and maintain equipment, tools, fixtures, and jigs necessary to the job.
- Interact with QC and Engineering to ensure that the best output is obtained from the process. Collaborate with other areas as required.
- Keep records of the results of the process including Test Certificates, timesheets, etc.
- Support workplace safety and health, ensure work area is safe, tidy, and functional.

Experienceand Assets
- Journeyman Machinist certification (Red Seal).
- CNC programming experience or Mastercam Training / certification is an asset.
- 10 years of Machine Shop experience asset
- 5 years of relevant experience in machining asset
- Knowledge of machines preventive maintenance.
- Experience programming and machining small precision parts is an asset.
