Taber Special Needs Society has been in existence since 1987. The Society provides support to adults with developmental disabilities. The Society advocates and supports an inclusive environment both for the individuals and the staff that support them. There will be on the job training and job shadowing.

Rotation details: This position is Monday to Friday with hours ranging from 8:30 AM to 5 PM for a total of 37.5 hours per week.

Overview: We are looking for a motivated, upbeat person who is passionate about helping others to join our Day Program Team. You will assist individuals to live a quality life inclusive to meaningful connections and day-to-day living routines. You will work collaboratively with a highly supportive and efficient team and report to a Team Leader.

Responsibilities: You will follow person-centered plans to help individuals reach their goals. You will encourage individuals to be active members of their community by attending recreational/leisure activities and volunteer commitments. As a support worker you will be a role model in social development and healthy living lifestyles. You must be willing to learn and understand challenging behaviors and implement person focused support plans. You will administer medications, perform or assist with personal care and hygiene routines, create and implement individual schedules, write daily logs, complete written reports and adhere to Taber Special Needs policies and procedures.

Qualifications: - Initiative and creativity - Adaptable to often changing environments with a variety of support needs - Self-motivated and demonstrate strong communication skills - Must be physically capable to partake in leisure activities and personal care routines - Must work well in a team environment and demonstrate the ability to develop relationships with individuals, team members and families
- 18 years of age or older - A valid class 5 driver’s license and a reliable vehicle with proof of $2 million liability insurance - A clean criminal record check with the vulnerable persons sector check - High School Diploma or equivalent - Proficient in verbal and written English - Basic understanding and use of computer skills an asset

Experience in the disability sector or health sector is an asset, but not necessary as we provide all training.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $20.00-$22.26 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
